Strategies for Crime Prevention
As your City Councilman, I will be committed to enhancing safety in our city by ensuring that our police, firefighters, and EMTs have the resources, training, and equipment they need to respond effectively to emergencies. By promoting community policing, we can build trust and foster collaboration between law enforcement and residents, creating a safer and more united community.

Addressing the root causes of crime is crucial for long-term safety. I will advocate for investment in mental health and substance abuse services, providing the necessary support and rehabilitation to prevent many crimes before they occur. Additionally, I support reentry programs for former offenders, offering job training, education, and housing assistance to help individuals reintegrate into society and reduce recidivism.
Improving our city’s physical infrastructure is another critical component of my safety strategy. Enhancing street lighting, maintaining public spaces, and repairing infrastructure will deter criminal activities and increase the sense of security in our neighborhoods. By fostering partnerships with local organizations, schools, and nonprofits, we can create a robust support network for crime prevention, providing positive alternatives to criminal behavior and ensuring a brighter future for all residents.

As your City Councilman, my goal is to ensure balanced development across our entire city, fostering growth and prosperity for every community. We must be especially mindful of the financial realities faced by our mature adults and residents on fixed incomes. Stabilizing taxes is crucial to maintaining the economic well-being of these individuals.
I am committed to implementing development strategies that stimulate economic growth and enhance public services, all while ensuring that we do not place additional financial burdens on those who can least afford them. By promoting smart investments and efficient resource management, we can build a thriving Newport News that supports all its residents, ensuring that our city's progress benefits everyone.
